Marc Marquez Postpones Talks on Contract Extension with Ducati

JAKARTA - Marc Marquez revealed that he was still holding talks to renew his contract with his current team, Ducati Lenovo.

The 2025 world champion is currently under contract with Ducati Lenovo until the end of the 2026 season. The certainty of staying at the Italian manufacturer's team is currently in the hands of Marc who does not want to sign a contract extension even though there have been talks.

"Regarding the contract that Ducati, I have reached an agreement on several points. As I said in the press conference I spoke to Ducati to wait a while," said Marc Marquez quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 7.

The rider from Catalonia, Spain, said that the current moment is not yet the right time to discuss his contract renewal.

According to Marc, his physical condition which has just recovered from injury must be his main focus at this time because he does not want to force his physical condition and continue to ride and compete in the 2026 MotoGP.

"Right now I'm in a condition that I've just recovered from an injury and when we talk about the future maybe the right moment is when I feel comfortable to ride again," said the seven-time world champion.

Previously, Marc had given a signal that the injuries he had suffered so far had greatly affected his physical condition while driving.

Even the rider with the number 93 did not rule out the possibility that in the near future if his physical condition is no longer possible, he will immediately retire from the track.

Starting the opening series in the Thailand MotoGP, Marc had to settle for a less promising result after failing to finish due to tire problems in the main race at the Chang International Circuit, Buriraram, last Sunday.

Currently, Marc is preparing to perform in the Brazilian MotoGP which takes place at the Ayrton Senna Autodromo Circuit, Golania, on March 23.
