BATC 2026 Results: Indonesian Men's Team Successfully Comeback to Defeat Malaysia

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting became the determinant of Indonesia's victory over Malaysia at BATC 2026 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's badminton team continued their journey to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC) as Group D champions after defeating Malaysia in the last match of the qualifying phase.

The Garuda squad was forced to bounce back from a deficit to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory over Malaysia at the Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, China, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, WIB night.

Indonesia was on the brink after losing the first two matches through the men's singles Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah and the men's doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana.

Ubaidillah who came down first had to admit the superiority of Hoh Justin with a score of 16-21 and 19-21, while Leo/Bagas who came down after him was beaten by the pair of Junaidi Arif/Roy King Yap through a tight match 13-21, 21-12, and 13-21.

Indonesia's comeback then began with the victory of the men's singles Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo. He managed to overcome Eogene Ewe with a score of 21-12, 14-21, and 21-15 to keep Indonesia's hopes alive.

"Alhamdulillah, today I was given smoothness without any injuries. Alhamdulillah, I was able to contribute points for today," said Bagas in a statement received.

The men's doubles Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin then went down and tied the score. The pair managed to defeat Choong Hon Jian/Haikal Muhammad with a score of 16-21, 21-11, and 21-19.

Indonesia's victory was finally determined by the men's singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who appeared in the decisive match against Kong Wei Xiang. The duel ended in three games 21-17, 13-21, and 21-16.

Indonesia managed to lock in the group champion position after winning all two matches in the preliminary round. Previously when meeting Myanmar, the Garuda Squad won more easily 5-0.
