JAKARTA - Men's singles badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and mixed doubles Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu are confirmed to be absent from the 2026 Thailand Masters event which takes place this week.

Men's singles coach Indra Widjaja said Ginting could not participate in the tournament because he was still recovering from a waist injury suffered at the 2026 Indonesia Masters last week.

"We hope that Ginting will be able to return to 100 percent fit when the Asian Badminton Championships starts next week," Indra said in a statement received by the media.

Ginting previously played two matches at the 2026 Indonesia Masters. He started the fight from the qualifying round, passing the first round in the main draw, and then withdrew in the second round ahead of the match against Jia Heng Jason Teh.

The owner of one Olympic bronze medal was included in the Indonesian squad for the Asian Badminton Championships next month. The tournament is scheduled to take place on February 3-8, 2026 in Qingdao, China.

Meanwhile, Jafar/Felisha withdrew from the tournament because Felisha suffered an injury in the right arm in the loss in the 2026 Indonesia Masters semifinals.

"After that I discussed with the medical team, the Head of Binpres, and the Head Coach, it was finally decided to be withdrawn from the Thailand Masters to focus on recovery," said mixed doubles coach Rionny Mainaky.

The Thailand Masters 2026 will take place from January 27 to February 1. Indonesia has a total of 23 representatives in the BWF Super 300 level tournament.
