BANDUNG - Persib Bandung officially signed a young Dutch-Indonesian center back, Dion Markx, with a duration of 2.5 years to strengthen Maung Bandung in the second round of the 2025/2026 Super League.

Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat Adhitia Putra Herawan said the recruitment of Dion was part of the team's evaluation after undergoing the first round of the competition, especially to add strength in the defense sector.

"Coach Bojan Hodak recommended adding players to the back line. Dion is a young player with European experience and a national team background," Adhitia said in a statement received in Bandung, Antara, Sunday, January 25.

The player, who was born in Nijmegen, Netherlands, on June 29, 2005, previously played in the Dutch Second Division with TOP Oss and studied at the academies of a number of clubs, such as Vitesse Arnhem and NEC Nijmegen.

This experience is said to have shaped Dion's playing character from an early age, especially in reading the game and duels in the defensive line.

At the international level, Dion has been recorded as having strengthened the Indonesian National Team for the age group, including the U20 National Team, and has been included in the regeneration radar of the U23 National Team. He was also involved in the qualification round of the Asian Cup for the age group.

Adhitia assessed that the presence of Dion Markx was an investment for Persib in the medium and long term, considering the young age of the player who was combined with experience playing in Europe and the mental to compete at the international level.

"We are fighting to defend the Super League title and go as far as possible in the AFC Champions League Two. We hope Dion can make the best contribution to the team," said Adhitia.

With this recruitment, he emphasized his commitment to building a competitive team in the short term while strengthening the foundation for the future.

"This is a strategic step to add depth to the squad and maintain consistency in performance until the end of the season," he said.
