Liam Rosenior's Manis debut, Chelsea beat Charlton 5-1 in the FA Cup

Chelsea ensured their move to the 2025/26 FA Cup fourth round after crushing Charlton Athletic with a score of 5-1 in the third round match held at The Valley on Sunday morning WIB, which was also the Blues' first victory under new coach Liam Rosenior.

Chelsea dominated from the start, but were only able to break the deadlock at the end of the first half.

The opening goal was created in the 45th + 4 minute through Jorrel Hato. The young defender fired a first time shot inside the penalty box that nestled in the left corner of the Charlton goal, without being able to reach goalkeeper Will Mannion.

Entering the second half, Chelsea immediately increased the lead. In the 50th minute, Facundo Buonanotte sent a free kick from the right side after Jamie Gittens was fouled by Tyreece Campbell.

The dead ball was greeted by a header from Tosin Adarabioyo who successfully doubled the lead to 2-0.

Charlton put up a fight and reduced the deficit in the 57th minute. Miles Leaburn scored a goal with a hard shot from close range after taking advantage of the chaos of the corner kick in front of the Chelsea goal which was guarded by Filip Jorgensen.

However, Chelsea showed a quick response. Five minutes later, Marc Guiu scored the third goal for the Blues.

Buonanotte's shot that received a pass from Alejandro Garnacho was indeed blocked by Mannion, but Guiu was quick to grab the loose ball to change the score to 3-1.

Chelsea ensured a landslide victory at the end of the match. Pedro Neto added the fourth goal in the 90th minute + 1 through a measured kick to the left corner of the goal after receiving a pass from Enzo Fernandez.

Three minutes later, Fernandez himself closed the goal party through a penalty kick, following a foul against Estevao in the penalty box. The score remained 5-1 until the final whistle.

This result brings Chelsea into the fourth round of the FA Cup. The next opponent will be determined through a draw held on Monday (12/1).
