The announcement of TVRI as the official broadcaster of the 2026 World Cup was made at a press conference held in the lobby of the GPO LPP TVRI, Jakarta, on Monday, December 29, 2025.

TVRI President Director, Iman Brotoseno, said that TVRI was designated as the Indonesian regional broadcasting rights holder which will broadcast all the 2026 World Cup matches through the TVRI Sport and TVRI National channels.

Later, all matches will be broadcast terrestrially or free to air (FTA) and back-to-back or simultaneous, starting at 23.00 WIB until 01.00 WIB from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

"The 2026 World Cup through TVRI is presented to all Indonesian people, with inclusive access. This is in accordance with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia that TVRI provides entertainment for all Indonesian people in the World Cup moment of joy."

"The process to obtain the broadcasting rights for the 2026 World Cup by TVRI is certainly not easy and through a long phase. However, all preparations are carried out as part of TVRI's commitment to carrying out public service functions," said Iman.

With TVRI officially as the official holder of the 2026 World Cup broadcast, it is hoped that it will present world-class quality broadcasts that are inclusive, easily accessible, and reach all levels of society, including in the outermost, leading, and lagging regions (3T).

TVRI will later broadcast a total of 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup from the group stage to the final match, which lasts for 39 days, both live, live delay, and re-run during the event.

"People can access the World Cup broadcast, through FTA or terrestrial platforms using a regular antenna. However, for other platforms or OTT (over the top) will depend on the policies of third-party operators," said Iman.

The government will also initiate a watch together (nobar) activity at various locations, as an expansion of public entertainment access in cooperation with Indonesian MSMEs as an effort to encourage local economic circulation.
