Marc Marquez Values His Brother as a Main MotoGP 2026 Rival

JAKARTA - Nine-time world champion Marc Marquez believes his younger brother, Alex Marquez, will be his main rival in the hunt for the MotoGP title in the 2026 competition season.

The two brothers closed the season by finishing in first and second place. Marc locked the top position to win the title, while his younger brother finished as runner-up with a mere 78 points difference.

Marc said that Alex has the potential to break his dominance throughout 2025 because next year they both ride the Factory bike from Ducati.

"Alex will be my main rival since the first (at Gresini). He will have GP26. He has proven that he is capable of doing anything, but without forgetting all the other rivals," said Marquez as quoted by Crash.

Alex performed very well throughout 2025 by winning a total of six victories, consisting of three Grand Prix and three Sprint Races. That performance made him promoted to the Ducati Factory for 2026 with Gresini.

Marquez said that Alex's achievements this year deserve greater respect. He assessed that with the same bike, the two would definitely perform much more competitively.

"I won't call him my brother, but as Alex Marquez, MotoGP runner-up (2025) and capable of doing anything. He is capable of leading any team," said Baby Alien.

Marc Marquez won his seventh MotoGP title this season with the Ducati Factory team. He performed violently throughout the season and managed to win 11 Grand Prix and 14 Sprint Races.

It was his first title in six years, and his ninth in his career in the Grand Prix. This year's achievement puts him on par with his former rival, Valentino Rossi.

Marquez locked in the title at the Japanese MotoGP before missing the last four rounds of the 2025 season after suffering a severe shoulder injury due to an incident with Marco Bezzecchi at the Indonesian MotoGP.

The Ducati rider underwent surgery a week after the injury, but his recovery went well ahead of his expected return at the Sepang test in Malaysia in February 2026.
