Ice Hockey National Team Makes New History at the 2025 SEA Games

The Indonesian Ice Hockey National Team managed to get a gold medal at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games (doc. FHEI).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ice Hockey National Team made history at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games after recovering from a loss against the host team to secure the gold medal and help Indonesia go further beyond the target.

The Red-White squad is entitled to the highest podium from the biennial multi-branch sports festival after securing an important victory with a score of 3-2 at the Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena, Bangkok, on Friday, December 19, 2025, WIB night.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Ice Hockey Federation (FHEI), Ronald Situmeang, expressed his great appreciation and gratitude and thanked for all the support that had been given to the ice hockey squad so that it could succeed in the White Elephant Country.

"Especially the Ministry of Youth and Sports, thank you for your support in developing ice hockey branch facilities as well as all coaching programs and ice house facilities so that they can help the teams continue to improve their performance," he said.

Furthermore, Ronald said that this victory is not only a historical record, but also a proof of the hard work that is done every day.

"The commitment of the players never gives up, even in difficult moments in the game. Tonight we are celebrating, but tomorrow we will return to training hard," he said.

Anryan Saputra as captain of the Indonesian Ice Hockey National Team also expressed his gratitude for their victory. He said that the struggle of he and his friends to get gold was not easy.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported, prayed for, and enlivened our business. In the future, we want to continue to inspire more people through the way we play and the values we bring," he said.

Furthermore, Saputra also expressed his respect for the Thai Ice Hockey National Team for giving an extraordinary resistance which forced the Red-White Squad to all-in.

"The highest respect to our opponent and the host, Thailand, for giving an extraordinary fight. I hope this match can make each team better," he said.
