Thailand Will Completely Aim For The 2025 SEA Games Football Gold

JAKARTA The Thai National Team (Timnas) will be desperately to get a gold medal from the 2025 SEA Games soccer sport when they get the opportunity to host the biennial event.

Men's soccer is the gold medal most coveted by Thailand when it hosted the multi-pronged sports event of the Southeast Asian countries.

Thailand coach, Thawatchai Damrong-ongtrakul, insists his team will try their best to bring home a gold medal, a medal they have never won again since the 2017 edition in the Philippines.

"The last time we won a men's soccer gold medal was in 2017. So, we are targeting to win another title this time in our home tournament," the coach said.

Thawatchai's team started the campaign with a convincing 6-1 win over Timor-Leste. Next, they will face Singapore in the second Group A match on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

The victory made the hosts now sit at the top of the standings with a collection of three points. They were followed by Timor Leste who also packed three points in second place after stopping Singapore.

Meanwhile, Indonesia U-23 as the defending champion is in Group C with Myanmar and the Philippines. The squad made by Indra Sjafri started the journey with disappointing results, losing 0-1 against the Philippines on Monday, December 8, 2025, WIB night.
