Menpora Sends Lecut Message The Spirit Of The 2025 SEA Games Contingent

JAKARTA Menpora Erick Thohir sent an in-depth message to spark the spirit of the Indonesian contingent which will compete in the 2025 SEA Games biennial multi-branch event next week in Thailand.

This message was conveyed by Erick when inaugurating the Indonesian Lontingen with the President of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, at Wisma Kemenpora, Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, December 5, 2025, afternoon WIB.

Erick asked all athletes who will appear to have to fight to raise the dignity of the nation and to prove their sacrifice so far in forging themselves to achieve a best achievement.

"Mr. President has ordered that this sport is the identity of the nation. We are not just ambassadors of the nation sent, but reflects the superiority of our nation in the eyes of the world," said the Menpora.

Erick also ensured that his party was very serious in building national sports so that the achievements of Indonesian athletes could improve in the future, especially in important international events such as the Olympics.

He emphasized that so that what we aspire to together can be achieved, we need a consolidation between stakeholders, especially between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI).

"Therefore, I have also again invited all sports stakeholders, this SEA Games is the beginning of our evaluation together. We sent everything we could afford to go to Thailand," he said.

Indonesia fielded 1,021 male and female athletes to compete in 49 of the 51 sports (sports) competed in the largest multi-sport event in Southeast Asia.

This number has increased from the previous 996 athletes from 48 sports. The addition of 25 athletes to the contingent because the implementation decided to add numbers in athletics, fencing, and bicycle racing sports.

Indonesia has set a target to get 80 gold medals in the White Elephant Country to lock up the third position in the final standings of medals in order to repeat the achievements in the 2023 edition in Cambodia.

The 2025 SEA Games will officially open on December 9. Some Indonesian contingents are currently in Thailand because some sports first compete like football.
