The Indonesian Contingent For The 2025 SEA Games Increases To 1,021 Athletes

JAKARTA The Indonesian contingent for this month's 2025 SEA Games multi-branch sports event in Thailand received an addition of 25 athletes after the organizers added a match number in the final minutes.

This was confirmed by the Chairman of the Indonesian NOC, Raja Sapta Oktohari, during the inauguration of the Red-White Contingent towards the biennial event at the Office of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, December 5, 2025.

"So, there is a change in the number added by the Thailand SEA 2025. There are three sports, namely athletics, cycling (cycling), and phencing (gar). We have support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports," said Okto, Raja Sapta Oktohari's nickname.

Previously, the Indonesian contingent had only 996 athletes from 48 sports that would appear in the White Elephant Country, with a target of getting 80 gold medals to pursue third place in the final standings.

However, the addition above makes it certain that Indonesia will appear in 49 of the 51 sports competed and three other sports are still demonstrations.

Menpora Erick Thohir said that the Ministry of Youth and Sports supports the addition of athletes who go there because they want to give their best in order to pursue Indonesia's achievements in the sports event of the Southeast Asian countries.

"We (try to) give our best. One of the best, we comb our budget as much as possible and send as many athletes as possible to win as many medals as possible," said Erick.

Currently, some Indonesian contingents are in Thailand because there are several sports that have held matches such as football. The opening ceremony of the SEA Games will only take place on December 9, 2025.

Erick confirmed the Indonesian contingent in a role so that all athletes who left for Thailand had to fight desperately to be able to fly the Red and White flag on the highest podium.

"You must fight for the dignity of the nation, for your sacrifice so far, the sacrifice of your family. In the future, we will make it so that our nation can create new histories," said Erick.

The Indonesian contingent will be officially released by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace this evening. Previously, the badminton group had already flown on Friday, December 5, 2025, morning WIB.
