Inter Miami Trying To Win Its First MLS Cup When They Meet Vancouver In The Final

JAKARTA - Inter Miami CF confirmed its place in the 2025 MLS Cup (Major League Soccer) final for the first time in the club's history on Sunday, December 7, 2025 WIB.

After overthrowing New York City FC with a score of 5-1 in the Eastern Region final, Inter Miami will face Vancouver Whitecaps in the race for the 2025 MLS Cup, which will beat San Diego FC 3-1 in the Western Region final.

As Herons captain Lionel Messi lifted the East Region trophy, co-owner of Inter Miami, Jorge Mas, reiterated the message of one more game, which is eyeing victory as his team host Vancouver.

"(This Eastern Region Trophy) is for you, Miami, our fans, La Familia. The club has made tremendous efforts and the results are extraordinary."

"But, more importantly, this is one victory, one must be achieved. One more thing," said Jorge Mas.

Inter Miami will host the MLS Cup as they collect more points in the MLS regular season-end standings than the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Herons closes the regular season in third place in Eastern Region with 65 points, while Vancouver records 63 points.

"At the end of this season, like this tournament is structured, it consists of two championships--one regular season and one more playoff--it's incredible that this moment has arrived, strengthening our confidence to continue on the same path."

Tadeo Allende became the motor of the Herons attack in the East Region final, scoring two of his three goals in the first 23 minutes.

New York initially hit back with a goal from Justin Haak just before halftime, but Inter Miami's backline and goalkeeperUR Rios Novo stopped the visitors' momentum.

In the second half, Mateo Silvetti, who joined Inter Miami in August 2025, increased Inter Miami's lead to 3-1 thanks to Messi's assist. Telasco Segovia added to Inter Miami's lead, scoring 10 minutes after coming off the bench.

Allende, a 26-year-old Argentine borrowed from Celta de Vigo, has been named the best player of the game. He scored eight goals in the playoffs, including three appearances with more than one goal to help Inter Miami advance to the final.

The Herons beat Nashville SC in the First Round of the MLS Playoff before winning against FC Cincinnati in the semifinals of the Eastern Region.

Inter Miami previously failed to qualify from the First Round of the MLS Playoffs in 2024, 2022, and 2020.

The legendary tennis player Carlos Alcaraz and several members of the United States Women's National Team will attend the 2025 MLS Cup match at Fort Lauderdale.
