JAKARTA - Barcelona will return to Camp Nou, which has been waiting for a long time, this weekend after confirming that LaLiga's match against Athletic Club on Saturday, November 22, 2025, will be played at the stadium.

Renovation work is still ongoing at the arena, but Barcelona on Monday, November 17, 2025, received permission from the Local Council to allow them to hold matches with a maximum capacity of 45,401 spectators.

Camp Nou has been closed for renovations since 2023--Barcelona have been playing home games at the Olimpic Lluis Companys Stadium in the city for a while--and the original plan is for the team to return by the end of 2024.

However, after a series of missed plans, the Blaugrana finally got permission to return to host the match in a significant audience at their iconic stadium.

Barcelona first received permission to reopen the stadium in October 2025, but the capacity limit set at that time was 25,991, which the club said was not high enough to justify an immediate financial return.

They then held a trial event at Camp Nou in November 2025, with less than 23,000 supporters attending an open training session by Barcelona president Joan Laporta, cited as success.

Barcelona then submitted documents last week to seek permission to expand capacity and finally received good news on Monday, November 17, 2025.

However, it remains unclear whether the Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt will take place at Camp Nou or the Olimpic Lluis Companys Stadium on December 9, 2025.

UEFA rules are slightly different from LaLiga in terms of stadium changes in the middle of the season, but Laporta expressed confidence that it would allow, saying there are plans to meet all requirements, including closed areas for the director's stands.
