JAKARTA - The General Chairperson of Percasi DKI Jakarta, Hardiyanto Kenneth, directly welcomed the arrival of the chess team who had just become the overall champion in the 50th Chess National Championship (Kejurnas) in Mamuju, West Sulawesi.

The Jakarta chess contingent arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Cengkareng, Jakarta, on Thursday, November 13, 2025. They landed at approximately 16.00 WIB.

Kenneth expressed his high appreciation to the team and all athletes who have fought desperately in West Sulawesi to maintain the status of overall champion in this important event.

"Thank you to Governor Pramono Anung for providing motivation and enthusiasm to all of us. Then thank you also to the official team, to the athletes who have fought hard to take part in this National Championship," he said.

DKI Jakarta came out as the overall champion at the 2025 Catur National Championships after winning six gold medals. This achievement repeats the achievements at the 2023 National Championships when Jakarta became the host which also ended with six gold medals.

The chess players from DKI Jakarta who successfully won gold were Zach Alexander Tjong in the Open U-9 class, Claudio Vargues Vasco Lasama (Open U-17), Satria Duta Cahaya (Open U-19), Gilbert Elroy Tarihan (Open), R. Syarif Mahmud (Veteran), and Clementia Adeline (U-17 Putri).

Kenneth said that this achievement actually missed the target of the 10 gold medals he wanted. However, bringing home the overall champion had made him happy.

"It's okay because this will be our evaluation material. Maybe next year we will change the training and nursery system. However, what is certain is that Praise God can become the overall champion," he said.

In addition to six gold, DKI Jakarta also won two silver and six bronze. Jakarta outperforms East Java in second place with four gold, three silver, and four bronze.

Following in third place was Yogyakarta, which brought home three gold medals, three silver medals, and two bronze medals.

"The next target may be that we will see the agenda next year. Maybe we will start coaching from each middle city because from our chess seeds we still lack."

"In addition, the chess players also don't have a stage so next year I will start the competition from the city and final levels in the province. Maybe it can be realized from the Regional Championships (Regional Championships)," said Kenneth.
