Slot admits that big matches in the Champions League are not easy. Even Slot did not hesitate to praise the quality of the opponent who made it a big match in European competitions.

This victory means a lot because Liverpool are not only overcoming one of the leading teams in the Champions League. Player confidence was boosted.

"The last few weeks have been quite difficult for us. Moreover, we have had many away matches and there is almost no rest time between each match," said Slot alluding to the poor match schedule and resulted in Liverpool picking up a series of disappointing results.

Because the players were hit by fatigue and not completely fit which ended in defeat in the previous few matches. But Slot said support from supporters which made his players look all out on the big match.

"But when you play in front of your own supporters and face Real Madrid, this actually really helps [to win]. Because players can show their best performance because they play in front of them," he said.

"We were finally able to show great performance and we should have achieved more than that," said Slot, who thinks Liverpool should have scored more goals.

The man from the Netherlands also praised the team's defense, which was very disciplined, especially when guarding and turning off Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior. Virgil van Dijk et al's success prevented both of them from moving freely into the key to The Pool's game.
