After Helping To Become An Agent, ChatGPT Is Also Beneficial To Design Tactics And Formation In Football

JAKARTA - Seattleign FC (United States Women's Professional League club) head coach Laura Harvey said she used ChatGPT for tactical advice, which eventually prompted her and staff to test the new formation with five defenders.

Harvey, who has won the NWSL Shield three times and NWSL's best coach three times, told the Soccer Podcast that he had never previously played with a five-player formation or conducted in-depth research on the formation.

At first he was not impressed by the answers to artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence) about his own team's identity, but he continued to ask questions that were more common about NWSL.

"Then I asked, what formation do you have to play to beat the NWSL team? It raises the ideas of every team in the league and what formations to play."

"For the two teams - I won't say who they are, because they definitely know. He (ChatGPT) said, you have to play five defenders. So, I did."

"Really, that's why I did it. I was like, let's see. It happened at the start of the season. I told the coaching staff, I'm not kidding, this is what I did. They are also interested," Harvey said on the Soccer Podcast in an interview published on Thursday, October 30, 2025, local time.

Harvey's staff then researched the formation and conducted an in-depth review to see how the formation was suitable for the team.

"We like it. It worked. We won the game," said a staffer as reported by ESPN.

Harvey declined to mention which opponents he would test his formation for. He replied that it wasn't the Portlandtas, but the really good teams.

Seattle has often played with 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 formations this season although the tactics and the Religion system have varied widely.

According to TruMedia, Seattle first switched to a 3-5-2 formation after four seasons started, losing 0-1 to Orlando Pride.

Three weeks later, Religion beat leaders of the Kansas City Current with a score of 1-0 with a formation of 3-5-2.

"The formulation doesn't tell you how to play it, what to do, or things like that.

"But, as suggested. For me, it's interesting. That's what encouraged me to study it. So, I really considered it," said Harvey.

Seattle is currently in fourth place in NWSL and has secured a playoff spot ahead of Sunday's final lap of the regular season, November 2, 2025, local time.

Last year, Seattle Foreign finished 13th out of a league 14 teams.

Meanwhile, before Laura Harvey used ChatGPT for football, former Manchester United player, Mitchell's geometry, also used artificial intelligence first.

He took advantage of not the way he played, but using a ChatGPT as his transfer agent.

Mitchell claims he used the AI ChatGPT when negotiating his move to League One club, Leyton Orient.

According to him, the software has become his best agent to date.

This summer, the 28-year-old left Exeter to join Orient on a free transfer.

He handled the move without an agent, an unprecedented move in professional football.

"They (Ligh Orient) sent me an offer. I started using ChatGPT, asked how to negotiate an agreement, and what should I write in it."

"This is my condition last season, moving to London, living expenses, my wife will move with me, my daughter."

"I also think I'm a little more valuable, but you don't want to be like that, I think I should be worth that much."

"Then, also because I didn't use an agent, I got that (agent fee) as a signing fee."

"An agent might give me a few hundred more pounds, because in this deal not much money is circulating, the amount is not too big."

"So agents might give me a few hundred more. Then the percentage I have to pay to them, the difference, will end too," Mitchell said on the podcast From My Left some time ago.

Because of the ChatGPT, the agent's costs finally went into Mitchell's pocket. Negotiations turned out to be running smoothly.

Mitchell started his career at Old Trafford, then made one league appearance for the club before playing for Hearts, Blackpool, Hibernian, and Exeter City.
