Mbappe Wins Gold Boots, Wants To Last Long At Real Madrid

JAKARTA - Kylian Mbappe said he wanted to be at Real Madrid for years and won more trophies at the club after receiving the European Golden Boot for the 2024/2025 season.

Mbappe scored 31 goals at LaLiga last season, his debut season with Real Madrid, to win the prestigious individual trophy presented by European Sports Media, for the first time in his career.

"It was a joy for me to win the Golden Boot. This is an important moment for me, the first time I have won this award."

"This means a lot to me as an attacker," Mbappe said at a ceremony in Bernabeu on Friday, October 31, 2025, local time, attended by coach Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid squad, and Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.

The award is awarded to the top scorers in European leagues for one season, with a points system that has more weight for goals in more competitive leagues.

With Mbappe's 31 league goals, he got 62 points, ahead of Viktor Gyokeres with 58.5 points for his season at Sporting CP, and Mohamed Salah from Liverpool with 58 points.

Harry Kane won this award in the 2023/2024 season, Erling Haaland in the 2022/2023 season, and Robert Lewandowski in the previous two seasons.

Mbappe further praised his teammates, after the start of the 2025/2926 season under new coach Alonso who has seen Real Madrid win 12 out of 13 games in all competitions.

"We have an amazing squad. I hope we will win an important trophy this year. That's the most important thing, winning a collective trophy."

"I look forward to being here for years and winning things like this many times," Mbappe said.

Real Madrid are currently five points ahead at the top of LaLiga's standings, having beaten their rival Barcelona in the El Clasico match last weekend.

Mbappe emphasized that Real Madrid's slick journey this season is a collective work.

"I hope we will continue to advance as a team, as I said, the team is the most important thing."

"Without these players, it is impossible to win this trophy. I know that. I want to thank the club, doctors, staff, who have helped me on and off the pitch."

"I hope I will win it again, next year, I have started well," said the French player.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez also praised Mbappe.

"I'm very proud our team can rely on players like you. You really represent the values of this club."

"Last season you won the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup. You won these shoes with 31 league goals in 34 games, and 44 goals in all competitions. This season you have scored 16 goals."

"You are the top scorer in the league and Champions League, at the start of the best season of your career. This is your first Golden Boot, very difficult to achieve, we already have three here (in Madrid), namely Hugo Sanchez, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ronaldo Nazario," said Perez, who for years made Mbappe's recruitment a top priority.
