Argentina Calls Messi Again Who Is Busy Fighting Supporters' Shield With Inter Miami

JAKARTA - Argentina National Team (Timnas) coach Lionel Scaloni, on Friday, October 3, 2025, local time, added Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul from Inter Miami to his 28-player list for this month's friendly against Venezuela and Puerto Rico in Miami and Chicago.

Messi and De Paul's participation in the match against Venezuela on October 10, 2025 is still doubtful as Inter Miami will face Atlanta United in an important regular MLS (Major League Soccer) season match at Chase Stadium a day later.

When asked if Messi and De Paul would participate in the Argentine friendly match, Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano gave an ambiguous answer.

The club could also fight for Supporters' Shield against Atlanta United on October 11, 2025, depending on the outcome of the match.

The condition is that The Herons must win the remaining three league games, while Philadelphia Union must lose in the last two matches.

Inter Miami is currently in fourth place in the Eastern Region standings with 56 points from 31 matches, having recently lost 3-5 against Chicago Fire.

Mascherano's side are seven points clear of Philadelphia who are top of the table.
