Leeds United Vs Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs Aim For October's First Victory At Elland Road

Tottenham Hotspur will continue their Premier League journey by traveling to Elland Road against Leeds United on Saturday 4 October evening WIB. This meeting became the first since May 2023, when Spurs beat the Whites 4-1 in the same place.

Leeds returned to the Premier League this season as champions of the Championship, and in their first six matches they won two wins, two draws, and two defeats. Last week, Daniel Farke's side had to settle for sharing 2-2 points with Bournemouth after conceding in the 93rd minute.

Even so, Leeds has solid capital: they have been unbeaten for a full year at Elland Road in the league, with a record 23 games in a row without falling. The Whites currently sit 12th in the standings with eight points, four points above the relegation zone.

Leeds is also known to be sharp through set pieces. From six matches, four goals have been born from set-piece situations. However, the opposite side is fragile: six times they also conceded from the same scheme.

Unfortunately, Leeds' record against Spurs is less friendly. Of the last 11 Premier League meetings, Leeds lost nine times, only won once, and drew once. In fact, they lost in the last four games in a row.

Spurs came with unbeaten capital throughout September in all six matches. However, they were stuck more often because three of the last four games ended in a draw. In the midweek Champions League, Thomas Frank's side had to settle for playing 2-2 with Bodo/Glimt in Norway with an own goal in the 89th minute.

Frank considered the result a valuable point, even though his team appeared below the standard. Now they are focused on returning to the league, with a target of entering the top three after collecting 11 points so far.

Spurs do have sweet memories at Elland Road. In the last two trips in the Premier League, they always win with a landslide score of 8-1. If they win again, this will be the first time they have won three consecutive away wins at Leeds headquarters.

Leeds lost Daniel James (an ankle injury) and Willy Gnonto (betis), while Harry Gray is doubtful. Goalkeeper Lucas Perri has returned to training but this match is still too fast, so Karl Darlow remains installed under the crossbar. Midfielder Sean Longstaff will be on the midfield with Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stage.

In the Tottenham camp, the storm of injuries is quite disturbing. Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin, Takai City, and Yves Bissouma are all absent. Randal Kolo Muani is still in doubt, while Richarlison has the potential to record the 250th Premier League match. However, Frank could give a chance to a fresh Mathhys Tel after a absence from Europe.

Cristian Romero, who was rested in European matches, is likely back in a duet with Micky van de Ven at the heart of the defense. While Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, Joao Palhinha, and Destiny Udogie are also ready to enter the starting XI.

Leeds are tough at Elland Road, but poor records against Spurs make it difficult for them to become favorites. Tottenham itself is in a draw trend, but the quality and depth of the squad is still superior. With Leeds' record being beaten by Arsenal 0-5 at the start of the season, Spurs are believed to be able to steal full points even though they are not as rival as city rivals.
