The Reason For Klise Indra Sjafri To Accept The U-23 Indonesia Training Offer For The 2025 SEA Games

Indra Sjafri was appointed by PSSI to lead the U-23 Indonesian national team for the 2025 SEA Games (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - Indra Sjafri revealed the reason, which was actually clich, when he received an assignment from PSSI to train the U-23 Indonesian national team at the 2025 SEA Games. According to the coach, this is a state task that must be carried out.

"Why do you want it again? My job is indeed a coach. Yes, right? The answer is, this is the duty of the state," said Indra Sjafri, having a press conference in Jakarta, Monday, September 29, 2025.

The reason for the state's duties is often made by Indra Sjafri when he is appointed to lead the Garuda squad for the age group.

The task of guarding the Indonesian national team at the SEA Games is nothing new for Indra Sjafri. In fact, the coach is quite experienced and has a flashy record in this multi-event.

Indra Sjafri first became a coach for the SEA Games agenda in 2019 in Manila, Philippines. At that time he brought the Garuda Muda squad to win a silver medal.

Then in the last edition of 2023 at Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Indra Sjafri was again appointed and successfully brought achievements for the Indonesian national team which broke the winning waiting record for 32 years.

Even though he already has a slick record on the SEA Games scene, Indra Sjafri does not want to feel complacent and become a hero after what he has done. Instead, he still accepted this offer as a call that had to be carried out optimally.

"If I want to be comfortable, I have won a gold medal (after) 32 years. Actually (can) stop there. This was assigned by the state, through PSSI, and was also conveyed earlier by the Deputy Chief of Staff."

"Whatever the consequences after this, I am ready to fight for the duties of this country and in accordance with the direction of the General Chair (PSSI) and this must be done together," he said.
