New League Weeks, Arsenal Have Lost Noni Madueke

JAKARTA - Arsenal lost winger Noni Madueke who had to pull out after suffering a knee injury against Manchester City in the English Premier League match. Madueke's absence became Arsenal's heavy blow when the competition only rolled out for a few weeks.

Arsenal was definitely not strengthened by Madueke when they faced a club from the bottom division of Port Vale in the third round of the Carabao Cup, Thursday, September 25, 2025 in the morning WIB.

Madueke suffered the injury when Arsenal drew 1-1 against Man City at the Emirates last weekend. Due to a problem in his knee, the England national team player had to be withdrawn in the first half.

Manager Mikel Areta said Madueke would be out for several weeks. But British media expect players brought in from Chelsea ahead of the closing of the summer transfer market to likely have to rest for six to eight weeks.

"He seems to have to be sidelined for a few weeks. We will again scan next week," said Arteta, who finally revealed that Madueke had actually felt pain in his knees when he started the match. But he still entered the starting line up.

"He did feel a problem with his knee when he started the match. He was getting sore on his knees that the first half was over," he said.

"The injury is not serious. He also looks disappointed because he is in good condition at this time. He shows consistency and is a big threat [to the opposing team]," said Arteta again.

Losing Madueke was a tough blow to Arsenal. Moreover, striker Kai Havertz is still recovering after knee surgery last month.

Likewise, Gabriel Jesus is still not finished with the healing process due to ACL injuries which really need time to recover.

As a result, Arsenal will play a number of crucial matches. After fighting in the Carabao Cup, Arsenal visited Newcastle United's headquarters in the Premier League competition.

Furthermore, the Gunners host Olympiacos in the Champions League. When returning to compete in the domestic competition, Arsenal underwent two London derbys against West Ham United and was then hosted by Fulham.

Perhaps what makes Arteta relieved is that Bukayo Saka has recovered. He has returned to play and replaced Madueke in that match.

Apart from Madueke, Arsenal lost a new defender Piero Hincapie who was injured in the groin. Meanwhile, captain Martin Odegaard is still struggling with a shoulder injury. However, Arteta ensured that Odegaard did not need surgery.
