Manchester United Legend Asks Guardiola Not To Complain About Schedule

Pep Guardiola was asked not to be noisy complaining about the schedule for Manchester City (Instagram/@mancity) matches.

JAKARTA - Manchester United legend Roy Keane has little sympathy with Pep Guardiola for Manchester City's manager's comments regarding his team's schedule following the 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Guardiola feels his players are showing the impact of a busy week, including last weekend's Manchester Derby and Champions League games against Napoli.

"Turn the hat to the team, their toughness. Scoring goals is very difficult when you are ineffective in pressing your opponent, you are ineffective in building attacks."

"The pattern must be strong, but we are exhausted a lot with the same players. We know how many are injured."

"Arsenal played better and we were very tired. Sometimes people didn't realize, the match against Napoli in the Champions League was so emotional."

"After that there is a day of recovery and the day after tomorrow you have to ( travel) four to five hours (to London). If you want to discuss the fact that now I'm complaining about the schedule, okay. Okay, I complain about the schedule! Are you satisfied? Okay," Guardiola said at Sky Sports.

The comment was immediately responded to cynically by former Manchester United captain Roy Keane, who spoke as an expert at Sky Sports.

"If you talk about fatigue and schedule, we're in September and they've just had two home games."

"They were quite comfortable against Manchester United. Napoli even had to lose one player after 20 minutes."

"They haven't come from Russia or Poland when you're having a tough away game."

"We all know the challenge of being a footballer is being tough and playing two or three games a week."

"We see their players on the bench. I'm sure there will be other managers in the Premier League who are surprised to see Pep complaining about schedule and strength in defense. Oh my goodness, I don't like Pep's point of view like that," said Roy Keane.
