Survey Results Call PSSI Mandatory To Keep Patrick Kluivert If The Indonesian National Team Fails To Go To The 2026 World Cup

Patrick Kluivert was asked by supporters to survive if he failed to bring the Indonesian national team to the 2026 World Cup (VOI/Karisa Aurelia Tukan).

JAKARTA - The survey conducted by the Football Institute revealed that the Indonesian National Team (Timnas) supporters asked Patrick Kluivert to survive if the Garuda Squad failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The Football Institute presented the results of a survey conducted on August 9-18, 2025 regarding the capture of the votes of Indonesian football supporters on the latest developments in national football for the period February to August 2025.

In a survey presentation that took place in Jakarta, Friday, September 19, 2025, the Founder of the Football Institute, Budi Setiawan, explained that one of the results of his survey resulted that Indonesian fans wanted Kluivers to survive even though they failed to bring the Garuda Team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

As many as 49.06 percent of respondents chose to "disagree" (four options: strongly disagree, disagree, agree, strongly agree) the Dutch coach was fired.

In this survey, the reason they expressed was because they wanted to provide opportunities and evaluate this failure, with them not agreeing if PSSI changed coaches if the Indonesian national team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals.

The Indonesian national team will play two matches of the 2026 World Cup Qualification for the Asian Zone against the host Saudi Arabia and Iraq. These two matches will be played at King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah, on October 8 and 11, 2025 local time.

Previously, the host for the Fourth Round was decided to be played in neutral places. However, in a survey conducted by the Football Institute, the selection of the host, one of which was in Saudi Arabia, did not dampen the optimism of supporters.

In this survey, supporters are still confident that the Garuda Squad will qualify despite playing at home to one of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Fourth Round opponents.

Those who chose the "sure" option (five options: very unsure, unsure, hesitant, confident, very confident) amounted to 64.80 percent.

When asked whether to have concerns that the host Saudi Arabia will play non-neutral or will cheat in the match later, they are also not too worried.

This was obtained from an "ordinarily" answer (five options: very worried, worried, normal, not worried, very not worried) which resulted in a percentage of 46.38 percent.

Apart from the host election factor, supporters are also sure that Indonesia will qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Of the five options (very uncertain, unsure, hesitant, confident, very confident), supporters chose "sure" 63.15 percent.

This survey was followed by 1,270 respondents with random sampling cluster techniques. The respondents are national football supporters, consisting of supporters of League 1 and League 2 participating clubs and supporters of the Indonesian national team.

This survey was conducted in 21 national football barometer cities, either in the base city of Liga 1 or Liga 2, dominated by ages 25-34 (55.7 percent).
