China Masters 2025: Jafar/Felisha Qualify For Round Of 16

Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu managed to revans to the last 16 of the 2025 China Masters (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Mixed doubles Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu beat Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito to reach the last 16 of the 2025 China Masters.

They pocketed tickets after locking up two straight games 23-21 and 21-17 in 42 minutes at the Shenzhen Arena, China, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, morning WIB.

"Grateful to be able to get through the first half with a win, our first win against them after in the previous two meetings was quite encouraging to lose," said Felisha.

Both of Jafar/Felisha's previous defeats against the Japanese representatives all occurred this year, in a row at the Badminton Asia Championship (BAC) and the Indonesia Open 2025.

Both defeats occurred in a rubber game. During the clash at the Indonesia Open, Jafar/Felisha even took the lead in the final points of the third game, but instead came back.

"Thank God, we can revans even though we feel our performance is not too good. I'm not comfortable yet, touch isn't good yet, hopefully tomorrow it can be better," said Jafar.

Jafar/Felisha will next be subjected to a tough test against third seed Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei. The Malaysian representative escaped after defeating Chen Zhi Yi/Francesca from the United States.

On paper, Jafar/Felisha have never won in three competitive clashes against third-placed world, all of which happened this year.

"Tomorrow (18 September 2025) against Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei, of course, we want to win after three meetings are still almost winning. Hopefully tomorrow the match will run smoothly," said Felisha.
