JAKARTA - The 2025/2026 Championship Competition (League 2) implements a mandatory system to use U-21 players the same as U-23 players in the 2025/2026 Super League. This competition will also be paused when the SEA Game takes place.
For the implementation of the Under-21 players, each team must play it as a starter for at least 45 minutes. After the first half is over, the player can be replaced by a player with a free age.
This regulation was conveyed by the President Director of the I League, Ferry Paulus. He emphasized that this new regulation is a regulation for PSSI requests.
"The regulation does belong to PSSI. So from year to year we always accept regulations, it can be mandatory to carry out all regulations that have been set by PSSI," said Ferry Paulus.
"There is an obligation to play U-21 players. The method is almost the same as in the Super League. That there are at least 45 minutes and at least five Under-21 players," he continued, quoted from an official statement, Saturday, September 13.

Lebih lanjut, Ferry Paulus juga memastikan Championship 2025/2026 akan jeda selama SEA Games 2025 di Thailand, sama seperti Super League 2025/2026.
"Berhenti. Jadi pada waktu SEA Games, semua kegiatan sepak bola, baik Super League kemudian Championship, begitu juga di Liga 3, nantinya akan berhenti semua," kata Ferry.
"Termasuk Elite Pro Academy juga akan berhenti. Jadi kita semua akan mendukung atlet kita di SEA Games. Kita support untuk SEA Games agar meraih prestasi," ucapnya.
Championship 2025/2026 sendiri mulai bergulir ditandai dengan laga PSMS Medan versus Persekat Tegal di Stadion Utama Sumatera Utara pada Jumat, 12 September malam WIB.

Furthermore, Ferry Paulus also ensured that the 2025/2026 Championship would be paused during the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, just like the 2025/2026 Super League.
