JAKARTA - MLS (Major League Soccer) announced Luis Suarez will receive an additional three-match ban for spatting on a Seattle Sounders staff member after the League Cup (Leagues Cup) final on August 31, 2025.
The Inter Miami forward will now miss the game against Charlotte FC on September 13, 2025, Seattle Sounders on September 16, 2025, and DC United on September 20, 2025.
This sanction was imposed after the League Cup Disciplinary Committee confirmed that Suarez would undergo a ban from competing in six matches in the upcoming tournament edition due to his behavior after the final whistle.
Inter Miami lost 0-3 to Sounders in the Leagues Cup final at Lumen Field before Suarez got into some of the arguments on the pitch and finally spat on an opposing team staff member.

Suarez has publicly apologized for his actions, by posting a statement on social media.
"The moment was tense and frustrated, where right after the game ended, things shouldn't have happened, but it didn't justify my reaction."
"I made mistakes and sincerely apologized. This is not an image I want to show in front of my family, who suffered from my mistakes, in front of my club, who also didn't deserve to see themselves affected by things like this," he wrote.
Inter Miami also published a statement condemning the team's behavior after the final.
MLS will also revoke Steven Lenhart's access rights, a Seattle Sounders staff member, for the remainder of the regular season and after the 2025 season for his involvement in the dispute between the two teams after the final.
"Lenhart will only be allowed to be in a public seating area during the Seattle Sounders FC home game and should not be inside or near the pitch, inside or around the dressing room, or tunnel. Access will be reviewed ahead of the 2026 MLS season," the MLS statement said in a press release.
The league has also been fined the sounders and forced to pay some money that was not disclosed for abuse of credentials.
Inter Miami players Sergio Busquets and Tomas Aviles also face Leagues Cup sanctions, each receiving a two-match ban and three games for their actions. However, Busquets and Aviles did not receive additional penalties from MLS.
Both will be available for their next Inter Miami match against Charlotte FC.
