Atletico Madrid is Mighty in the Klasmen After Real Sociedad defects, the La Liga trophy is in sight

JAKARTA - Atletico Madrid clinched the La Liga title with a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday, May 12. Atletico sits on top of the table and four points clear at the top of the table.

Diego Simeone's side made an aggressive start and after passing a couple of early chances. They deserved the lead with a low finish from Yannick Carrasco in the 16th minute, doubling their lead in the 28th minute through Argentine striker Angel Correa.

After the game, Koke of Atletico said: "We are tired. We did a spectacular job today from start to finish, at 2-0 we backed off a little bit at the end, but we tried hard to win, which is what we had to do outside of the good moments and not the beautiful moments we had".

"It's about getting three points, and on Sunday we have another game", Koke was quoted as saying by ESPN on Thursday, May 13.

Sociedad had their moments but was thwarted by six saves from Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak while Portu's forwards hit the post in the final minutes.

They finally got a goal when defender Igor Zubeldia put the ball into the net in the 83rd minute, ensuring a thrilling finish for the leaders.

Atletico was locked in second for most of the remaining minutes but held on to victory and knew they would lift their first La Liga crown since 2014 if they beat Osasuna and Real Valladolid in their last two games.

Atletico leads the standings with 80 points, four points ahead of second-placed Barcelona and five points above third-placed Real Madrid, who visit Granada on Thursday.

"We have two games left, it's the whole world", Koke added. "The league has been very tight in the last five games, we always say it. Everyone lost points, it's a final for us, we won this one and on Sunday and we have another final we want to win.

'We're Atleti, if we don't suffer, it's not us. Thanks to the fans who came here outside [the stadium] and those who couldn't. You need your fans to make an extra effort like us. do in the last 10 minutes, we can hear them outside. We thank you".

Atletico drew crucially against Barcelona on Saturday.
