Catalunya Is Not Marc Marquez's Favorite Circuit

JAKARTA Ducati Lenovo Team's currently leading top of the 2025 MotoGP standings, Marc Marquez, admits the Catalunya Circuit is not his favorite track.

MotoGP 2025 continues to race at the Catalunya Circuit, Montmelo, Barcelona, Spain, on September 5-7, 2025. That is the 15th series in this year's racing calendar.

Marquez came there with unfavorable statistics. Since entering the primary class, the rider nicknamed The Baby Alien has only secured a two-time win in 2014 and 2019.

"This is not one of my best tracks, at least on paper, even in terms of results," Marquez said as quoted by Crash.

Even though it is not a favorite circuit, Marquez is still the favorite to win in Catalunya. This is because this season he managed to beat several circuits that had previously been difficult for him.

The circuits in question are Qatar, Assen, and Austria. It was this dominance that made him a favorite, especially Catalunya being the home of the 32-year-old racer.

"Since Friday's free practice, we will try to understand the true value on the track. We will stay focused and bring home as many points as possible," said Marquez.

Marquez currently sits comfortably at the top of the standings with a collection of 455 points. He is 175 points ahead of his younger brother Alex Marquez who occupies second place.

Marquez has not been able to lock up the world title in Catalunya this weekend. However, his dominance this season put Ducati on the verge of a constructor champion.

The Italian manufacturer is 276 points ahead of Aprilia and only needs to maintain a minimum difference of 259 points to ensure trophies.

Marquez needs to open the possibility of mathematics in order to win the title at the next Grand Prix at Misano. To get that chance, he has to add to the lead in the standings to at least 185 points this weekend.
