Ubed Glad To End Men's Singles Paccyclic At BAJC

JAKARTA Men's singles badminton player Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah said he was happy to be able to end the drought of the Indonesian men's singles title at the Badminton Asia Junior Championship (BAJC).

The athlete who is familiarly called Ubed managed to climb the highest podium after defeating the Chinese men's singles, Liu Yang Ming Yu, in the final which took place at GOR Manahan, Solo, Central Java.

"It's been a long time since the Indonesian men's singles have won in Asia Junior and finally I can come out as champions," Ubed said in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Victory over Liu Yang automatically ended the fasting of the Indonesian men's singles title in the prestigious tournament which has lasted 24 years.

The last time the Indonesian men's singles climbed the highest podium at BAJC occurred in 2001 when Ardiansyah defeated his compatriot Sony Dwi Kuncoro.

Ubed said that after failing to help the Indonesian team get the title after losing against South Korea in the quarter-finals, he tried to settle his grudge in an individual number.

"So in individuals I also don't want to lose, like there is a grudge in itself and wants to win the title in Asia Junior. The result is that they can finally win," he said.

Ubed will next prepare to appear at the Hong Kong Open 2025 next month. The BWF Super 500 level event will take place from 9-14 September 2025.

After that, Ubed will prepare to appear at the 2025 Junior World Championships. The tournament will take place on October 6-19 2025 in Guwahati, India.
