Hamilton Had Frustration, Asks Ferrari To Change Riders

JAKARTA - Ferrari racer Lewis Hamilton expressed his hope to return to racing in the follow-up series after the summer break. This was revealed following the disappointing results achieved at the 2025 Hungarian GP F1.

The seven-time world champion closed the weekend with bad results. He failed to break through the third qualifying session and only finished in 12th place in the race. In fact, Hungaroring is known as Hamilton's flagship circuit.

After qualifying, Hamilton could not hide his disappointment and bluntly called himself useless. He even suggested that Ferrari should change riders.

Quoted from Crash, Hamilton was asked again the day after the main race about how the situation was. He replied that his feelings were still the same.

When asked about his statement regarding Ferrari being asked to replace the rider, Hamilton still answered briefly. He only emphasized that he was looking forward to the summer break for the next three weeks.

"I have nothing else to say," Hamilton was quoted as saying by Crash on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

"I'm looking forward to coming back. Hopefully I'll be back, yes," said the 40-year-old, in a hesitant tone, when asked if he would definitely appear in F1 of the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort at the end of August 2025.

Despite appearing under expectations, Hamilton still received defense from two important figures in his career, namely Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur and former Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff.

"I don't need to motivate him. He's really frustrated, but that doesn't mean he's lost motivation. Those are two different things."

"I can understand the situation. Sometimes people put too much attention into what riders say on the radio."

"However, just try to put the microphone on other athletes in the branches like football, it's not certain that the comments are better," said Vasseur.

Vasseur further emphasized that emotions after the race could indeed peak.

"We are all frustrated. Sometimes spontaneous reactions after racing or qualifying do not reflect the whole situation. However, we remain one team and our direction is the same," he said.
