YOGYAKARTA - PSIM Yogyakarta has finally received approval to use Sultan Agung Stadium in Bantul to host their opponents in the 2025/2026 Super League. The first home match against Arema FC has also received security assurances from the Bantul Police.
The first home match is an initial test for PSIM. As a newly promoted team, this will be their first time hosting a home match in the top flight.
This match is certainly eagerly awaited by PSIM supporters, Brajamusti and Maident. PSIM and security personnel must anticipate the crowds that will fill the stadium. Although visiting supporters, Aremania, cannot travel to Bantul, the match is expected to draw a large crowd.
PSIM management felt the need to hold a hearing with the Bantul Police on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The meeting, led by Bantul Police Chief, AKBP Novita Eka Sari, served as a coordination effort to prepare for security for PSIM's first home match, scheduled for August 16, 2025.
PSIM representatives present at the hearing included Wendy Umar Seno Aji, Chair of the Organizing Committee; Jan Benjamin, PSIM Security Officer; and Brajamusti Muslich Burhanuddin, President and supporter representative.
During the hearing, AKBP Novita Eka Sari expressed the Police's full support for the league match. The Police Chief also emphasized the importance of synergy between the police and the local government in maintaining security during matches.
"The Bantul Police support this, and we are in line with the local government. If PSIM has fulfilled all procedures for using Sultan Agung Stadium, we will certainly support it for the common good," said Novita.
Meanwhile, Wendy Umar explained the spectator arrangements for PSIM's home matches. Due to the stadium's limited capacity, the committee has decided not to open tickets to visiting team supporters to maintain the smooth running of the match.
"We will not open tickets to visiting team supporters for home games," said Wendy.
Furthermore, Wendy explained that the number of tickets sold will be in accordance with the Bantul Regent's recommendation, with a limited quota. This will prevent excessive crowding that could pose a security risk.
"The number of spectators will follow the Bantul Regent's directive, which is 10,000 tickets," she said.
As a special protection measure for more vulnerable groups, the committee has prepared a special gate for women and children. "We are opening a special gate for women and children at the stadium. The plan is for it to be at gate 12," Wendy said.
Previously, an assessment of Sultan Agung Stadium was conducted and received a score of 73.46. The assessment results also showed no major structural damage to the stadium building.
However, there were improvements to the stadium entrances and exits, the roof of the stands, the lighting, and a reduction in spectator capacity.
The assessment team noted several important points that needed to be addressed immediately. One of the main tasks is repairing the stadium's corroded entrance and exit systems.
In addition, several loose sections of the grandstand roof and the perimeter fence are also being repaired. This is to ensure the safety and security of spectators during matches.
