RB Leipzig Winger Xavi Simons Is Reportedly Close to Joining Chelsea

JAKARTA - Chelsea hasn't stopped hunting for players. This time, Chelsea is trying to bring in RB Leipzig winger Xavi Simmons. Signals that Simmons will land at Stamford Bridge are growing stronger.

Chelsea will have a squad brimming with players. The West London club is eager to acquire many players. Most recently, Chelsea brought in center-back Jorrel Hato from Ajax Amsterdam.

The Blues' next target is none other than Simmons. In fact, the club seemed unconcerned when Leipzig set a £60 million price tag for Simmons. Negotiations for the Dutch national team winger's transfer are still ongoing.

Leipzig itself has not played Simmons during its friendlies. The German Bundesliga club is indeed preparing to release the 22-year-old.

This season, Leipzig will profit from the sale of several players. In addition to Simmons, Leipzig has received offers to buy striker Benjamin Sesko, who is being targeted by Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Signals that Simmons will leave are growing stronger as Leipzig's negotiations with Chelsea are progressing smoothly. However, Leipzig has made an offer for young Chelsea winger Tyrique George.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, as quoted by The Sun, Leipzig is targeting the 19-year-old winger. Despite his youth, George has already broken into the first team and has even played 26 times in various competitions.

George is believed to remain a key part of Enzo Maresca's plans this season.

However, Leipzig hopes Chelsea will release George to replace Simmons. Besides Leipzig, Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach are also pursuing the England U-19 international.

Leipzig are also reportedly pursuing George, but they have also approached Liverpool for Harvey Elliot.

Elliot could also replace Simmons. However, negotiations with Liverpool have not yet reached a conclusion, although they are ongoing.

Elliot has actually struggled to secure a place in Arne Slot's first team during the 2024/2025 season. He hopes to move to another club to gain regular playing time.

However, Liverpool still has a hefty asking price of £40 million.
