Newcastle Rejected Offer, Liverpool Stop Hunting Alexander Isak

JAKARTA - Liverpool will not continue to hunt for striker Alexander Isak after his offer was rejected by Newcastle United.

Liverpool, who still want to add players, have officially submitted an offer to Newcastle. Liverpool only proposed a price of 110 million pounds plus bonuses based on the achievement of the players (add-ons).

Despite signing striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, the English Premier League champion is indeed aiming for Isak. Especially after Luis Diaz's departure joined Bayern Munich.

Liverpool themselves have been eyeing Isak since last season. It's just that their offer was immediately rejected by Newcastle who asked for a price of 150 million pounds, approximately 3.2 trillion rupiah.

Newcastle hopes to raise the offer because Liverpool are interested in bringing in the striker of the Swedish national team. But that hope doesn't seem to come true. Because Liverpool will not insist and increase the offer for Isak's transfer.

Sources at the club told ESPN there would be no second offer from Liverpool. The club considers that the next offer will not be useful because Liverpool find it difficult to meet the Magpies' asking price.

Moreover, Liverpool have spent more than 250 million pounds to bring in Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, Ekitike and Florian Wirtz.

Liverpool's stance on not making further offers makes Isak's future even uncertain. The reason is, the striker, who has scored 23 goals from 34 Premier League games, has expressed his desire to leave Newcastle.

He also did not take part in the Toon Army pre-season tour to Asia. The club stated that Isak was still recovering after suffering a minor injury to the thigh.

This made Isak absent against Arsenal in Singapore and face K-League XI in Korea. Including when Eddie Howe's team met Totenham Hotspur on Sunday, August 3, 2025 local time.

It's just that Isak is not still at Anfield to train as well as undergo recovery. Instead, he trained at Real Sociedad, his former club.

Howe himself dismissed if Isak would leave Newcastle. Moreover, his contract is still three years away. "He is still our player. He is still under contract with us," Howe was quoted as saying by NDTV.

"I certainly hope he stays with us. But it's not in my control," he said.

Isak has had a vital role in Newcastle since being recruited from Sociedad for 60 million pounds in 2022. He brought Newcastle to win the Carabao Cup 2025 after defeating Liverpool. Isak also played a role in leading Newcastle to compete in the Champions League.
