Macau Open 2025: 5 Indonesian Representatives To The Second Round

Apriyani Rahayu/Febi Setianingrum successfully stepped into the second round of the Macau Open 2025 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Five of the six Indonesian representatives who fought in the first round of the Macau Open 2025 managed to continue their journey to the second round of the tournament.

Part of the first round of the Super 300 BWF level tournament which took place at the Macao East Asian Games Dome was completed on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, WIB night.

One of the five tickets was secured by women's doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Febi Setianingrum. The pair passed thanks to a victory over fifth seed China, Chen Qing Chen/Keng Shu Liang, two straight games 21-13 and 21-19.

The eighth seeded women's doubles Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Alllessya Rose also managed to get past their first obstacle.

The pair had to rise from behind the first game to beat Rui Hirokami/Sayaka Hobara from Japan with a final score of 17-21, 21-9, and 21-13.

The remaining three tickets were secured by the men's doubles sector, namely Rahmat Hidayat/Yeremia Rambitan, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, and Muhammad Putra Erwitsyah/Daniel Edgarimo. The three of them compactly repatriated representatives of Malaysia.

Rahmat/Yeremia stopped sixth seed Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi, Sabar/Reza defeated Kang Khai Xing/Aaron Tai's dreams, and Erwusyah/Daniel destroyed Bryan Jeremy Gooting/M Fazriq Mohamad Razif's hopes.

The smooth journey of the three men's doubles failed to be followed by the pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, who swallowed the bitter pill against third seed Fang-Chih Lee/Fang-Jen Lee of China Taipei.

The brilliant results were also passed by the men's singles, Yohanes Saut Marcellyno. He managed to get through two matches in the qualifying round to enter the main round and meet Prannoy HS from India.

Saut's entry into the main round means that Indonesia has 10 representatives who will fight in the first round which will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
