Maguire Joins Manchester United Tour Too Late, Not Because He's On The Selling List

JAKARTA - Harry Maguire is scheduled to join the Manchester United squad on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, after missing a flight to Chicago on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, local time, to take care of personal matters.

Maguire posted on social media to convince supporters that he would leave for the United States, 24 hours after his teammates.

"Everything is fine now. I will leave tomorrow (Wednesday) to meet the squad. Thank you for your attention," Maguire wrote on Instagram Story.

Initially, Maguire was considered like Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and capy Malacia who were not taken on pre-season tours because they were on the list of sale on the stock exchange this summer. However, that's not the case.

Apart from that, Leandro Martinez has been included in the squad, but the Argentine international will not train or play with the team during the tour.

Martinez has been absent since February 2025 due to a knee injury. He will go to the United States to resume his rehabilitation as time approaches to return to play.

While new players Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are also part of Ruben Amorim's squad.

Mbeumo, who completed his move from Brentford on Monday, July 21, 2025, is likely to make his debut against West Ham in New Jersey on Saturday, July 26, 2025, local time.

Andre Onana, who suffered a hamstring injury during training and missed a 0-0 draw against Leeds in Stockholm on Saturday, July 19, 2025, also participated on the trip.

The goalkeeper has returned to training and his recovery is going well. Onana will most likely not fully recover before the end of the tour.

Manchester United will face West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton in the United States before starting their Premier League campaign against Arsenal at Old Trafford on August 17, 2025.
