JAKARTA The All-Indonesian Korfball Association (PKSI) of DKI Jakarta and the Yogyakarta City PKSI held joint training as well as training matches to prepare for the XXII NTT National Sports Week (PON) 2028 and the DIY Provincial Sports Week (Porprov).

Chairman of the DKI Jakarta PKSI, Adi Dw Kalimantan, said that this agenda is very important to increase the athlete's flight hours and strengthen team preparations, especially against PON XXII 2028.

"The opportunity to play with a team from Yogyakarta is a valuable experience and will greatly help build the solidity of the team," Adi said in a statement received.

This match is the first for the DKI team after the selection of the Regional Training Center (regional training camp) is completed at the end of May 2025. The plate team that has just formed is in the middle of adapting routine exercises.

Adi stated that activities like this are not only technically useful, but also have a positive impact on introducing and developing corruptball sports, especially in Jakarta.

"Hopefully, we can again achieve achievements at PON XXII 2028. In addition, the more frequent training and matches will strengthen the athletes' abilities, as well as encourage public interest in korfball," he said.

DKI Jakarta is preparing from afar to defend the overall corfball title won by DKI Jakarta at PON XXI Aceh North Sumatra 2024.

The General Chairperson of the Yogyakarta City PKSI, Budi Aryanto, emphasized that his team's participation in the joint training and training sessions was part of the strategy to face the 2025 DIY Provincial Championships (Kejurprov) and Porprov.

"Through this training match, we hope that the results of evaluation and experience can be implemented directly during the DIY Porprov, even exceeding the set target," said Budi.

Korfball will be competed at the XXII 2028 National Sports Week (PON) which will be held in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

This is the second time the sport has been contested in this national multi-event. This sport previously made their debut at the 2024 Aceh-Sumut PON.
