JAKARTA - Jordan Henderson has signed a two-year contract with Brentford after leaving Ajax Amsterdam on a free transfer.
Brentford coach Keith Andrews highlighted the 35-year-old's experience as a key factor in the decision to sign him.
"When we found out Jordan's availability, the decision was quite easy. We conducted due diligence based on the recent matches to see how it develops."
"He is still very fit and still very motivated to achieve achievements in the world of football, after achieving many achievements."
"With experienced players leaving the team - Christian Norgaard, Mark Flekken, and Ben Mee - it's important to replace him."
"We have quite young squads as a whole. We also have a lot of experienced players, which is very important, such as Vitaly Janelt, Mathias Jensen, Ethan Pinnock, and Josh Dasilva, who are still undergoing rehabilitation at the club."

"However, what Jordan will bring is that he has become one of the most influential leaders in the modern Premier League era."
"He has been at the forefront of winning titles and the Champions League at a fantastic football club."
"He also has experience at the international level with England. With that, he also has a level of experience, professionalism, and dedication to his profession. That's what we want as a football club."
"He will raise standards and be a brilliant addition to the squad," Andrews said.
Henderson has played for the England National Team 83 times and has been elected in both of Thomas Tuchel's squad since the German took over the coaching chair in January 2025.
Now on his new journey, he is very enthusiastic even though he is no longer young. Henderson sees Brentford as very serious about building a team, one of the reasons he wants to join.
"I'm happy to be here. I'm so excited to get started and go on. I've always admired this club very much and what they've accomplished over the last few years, in particular, how they developed as a club."
"I have been told how organized and well managed this club is, very family-oriented, which I think is very important."
"When I spoke to Philploy, Lee Dykes, and Keith, I had a very good feeling about everything."
"As soon as I spoke to them, it was clear to me that I wanted to come here. In the end it was an easy decision."
"When I talked to Keith (Andrews) several times, he was very kind and very honest. He was also excited to get started."
"He's another big reason why I wanted to come and try to help the club keep going," Henderson said.
Henderson joined Ajax in January 2024 after playing briefly in the Saudi Arabian Pro League for Al Ettikaq.
He also played for Liverpool between 2011-2023 and captained when they won their first Premier League title in 2020.
