Spanish Government Wants To Investigate Yamal Lamine Party

JAKARTA - Spain's Ministry of Social Rights (MAS) has requested an investigation into possible violations of disability laws at Barcelona's 18th anniversary party, Lamine Yamal, following allegations that individuals with dwarfism were employed as entertainers.

The ministry wants the Spanish Public Prosecutor's Office, the Spanish Ombudsman, and the Hate Crime Eradication Office to investigate whether a law prohibiting displayary ridicule or demeaning persons with disabilities has been violated at the party.

Yamal's 18th birthday on July 13, 2025 and celebrate by holding a private party outside Barcelona.

Guests were not allowed to record with cell phones at the event, but videos later appeared on social media showing people with dwarfs appearing to arrive at the party location.

On Sunday, July 13, 2025, following the appearance of the pictures, the Association for People with Akdroplasia and Other Scaletal Dysplasia with Dwarfism (ADEE) in Spain condemned the recruitment of individuals with dwarfism as entertainers.

In a statement, ADEE said the action violated applicable laws and fundamental ethical values and that they would take legal and social action to protect the dignity of persons with disabilities.

One of the performers, who chose not to be named, defended their right to work as entertainers and said they were treated respectfully at the party.

"No one doesn't respect us, we are allowed to work calmly. I don't understand why this is a big deal."

"We are just ordinary people who are dedicated to what we love in a completely legal way."

"For a few years, these people (ADEE) wanted to hurt us, they wanted to prevent us from doing what we liked, but they didn't offer any jobs or training to those affected."

"We work as entertainers. Why can't we do what we do? We dance, we do magic, there are various kinds of shows. Everyone has fun."

"All this furore happened solely because it was a Lamine Yamal party," they told RAC1 in an interview in Katalan.

Yamal returned to training pre-season with Barcelona the day after the party, after about a month off after the end of the 2024/2025 season.

The Spanish international helped Barcelona win LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Supercopa and has made more than 100 appearances for the Catalan club scoring 25 goals.
