PSSI Prepares Selection Of The U16 Women's National Team To The AFF Cup And U17 Qualification For The Asian Cup

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir conveyed that PSSI is preparing a selection process for the formation of the Indonesian U16 Women's Football National Team to compete in two important events this year: the 2025 Women's AFF U-16 Cup, August and the 2026 Women's U-17 Asian Cup Qualification which is scheduled to run in September 2025.

This selection will refer to the best performance of the players competing in the 2025 U16 Hydroplus Pertiwi Cup, a competition that is an important milestone in the development of young women's soccer. Of the 1,000 participants who took part in the competition, around 400 players have been caught and are considered to have the potential to take part in the follow-up selection.

"This year's U16 Pertiwi Cup is not only a competition forum, but also a gateway to forming a strong, character national team, and representing the spirit of Indonesian women's soccer," said Erick Thohir.

PSSI emphasized that the selection process will take place comprehensively and objectively, involving experienced coaches and technical teams to form a young squad that is not only competitive in the ASEAN region, but also appears confident at the Asian level.

"This is our momentum to continue to build a strong level of coaching. We want young women players to know that dreams of becoming part of the national team are not wishful thinking, but real and measurable goals," added Erick.
