JAKARTA Amanda Anisimova managed to make a surprise by getting rid of the world number one, Aryna Sabalenka, to reach the 2025 Wimbledon final.

The US tennis player secured a ticket to the final round after stopping his opponent with a final score of 6-4, 4-6, and 6-4 on Friday, July 11, 2025.

"To be honest, if you say that I will enter the Wimbledon final, I will not believe it. Being able to enter the final is really difficult to describe," he said.

Amanda got this result after last year she did not penetrate the main round of this grass field Grand Slam after losing in the third round of qualifying, while she was still ranked 191 in the world.

This failure made him decide to take a day off and spend time with his family and friends so he could forget Wimbledon.

"Every time I miss a Grand Slam or tournament, I always take a few days off. I don't turn off my phone, but I don't really follow (what's going on)."

"I like relaxing and spending as much time as possible with anyone I'm with. That's what I did last year," he said.

Amanda became the second tennis player in the Open era to reach the grand slam women's singles final after losing in the qualifying round the previous year.

The only other female tennis player who managed to do that was Bianca Andreescu, who won the US Open in 2019.

Amanda, 23 years old, will next play her first Grand Slam final against Poland's former world number one, Iga Swiatek, who qualified for the final of her age beat Belinda Hatic.
