Takraw's Action Is Trusted To Talk A Lot At The 2025 SEA Games

JAKARTA The sport (sports) of football takraw is believed to be able to talk a lot in Thailand's 2025 SEA Games multi-pronged event which will take place at the end of this year.

This was conveyed by the Assistant Deputy for Sports and Sports for the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) Budi Ariyanto Muslim after the National Selection (Selection) of the Menpora Cup was completed on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

"Takak takraw has a long history at the SEA Games and Asian Games. We have won gold medals, including at the last Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. This is an important asset," he said on the Kemenpora website.

The 2025 Menpora Cup National Selection was recorded to be attended by around 80 male athletes and 40 female athletes. They all compete in two match numbers, namely the squad and double events.

Central Java A came out as the champion in the regulatory category, in the men's doubles won by South Sulawesi B, Central Java, as the first winner in the women's team number, and the women's doubles number DKI Jakarta B who came out as champions.

The athletes who excel in the selection will then be summoned by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to undergo a national training camp (Pelatnas) to prepare for the biennial event.

"With sufficient preparation time, we hope that this branch can make a big contribution to Indonesia by 2025," said Budi.

The 2025 SEA Games are scheduled to take place from 9-20 December 2025 in three major cities in Thailand. A total of 50 sports are contested in the largest multi-branch event in Southeast Asia.

In the previous edition in Vietnam in 2023, Indonesia locked the third position in the final standings for the win. The Red and White are behind the hosts Vietnam and Thailand.
