Jay Idzes Asks Supporters To Be Patient With The Indonesian National Team Process

JAKARTA - The captain of the Indonesian National Team (Timnas), Jay Idzes, apologized to all Indonesian people after closing the Third Round of the 2026 Asian Zone Qualification with negative results, losing 0-6 to Suita Stadium, Osaka, Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

"I want to apologize to all Indonesian people," Idzes wrote in his personal Instagram account upload.

The six Japanese goals were scored by Daichi Kamada, Takefusa Kubo, Ryoya Morishita, Shuto Machino and Mao Hoskya.

Japan is also very dominant with 71 percent possession of the ball, and 22 opportunities of which 10 are on target.

Japan's dominance made the Indonesian national team unable to do anything, without a single shot, and could even lose more if goalkeeper Emil Audero did not make four brilliant saves.

This result is worse than the first meeting with Japan at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, in November 2024 when Indonesia lost 0-4.

However, in terms of play in Jakarta, the Garuda Squad performed better and was more intense because it fired eight shots, two of which were on target.

"We can and have to do better than what we showed (against Japan)."

"We have a great team with a lot of potential, but it takes time to build."

"I really believe that, with this team, we can achieve great things," said Idzes.

The 25-year-old defender asked supporters to be patient in waiting for the Garuda Team process which is currently being built by Patrick Kluivert and his colleagues.

"As a team, we definitely have the best supporters in the world. However, we need your patience."

"Please continue to support us so that we can continue this journey together towards greatness," he said.

Despite a crushing defeat to Japan in the closing match of the Third Round, the Indonesian national team remains safe to advance to the Fourth Outaran of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in October 2025 with the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Iraq, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.

In that round, the six teams will be divided into two groups which will be drawn on July 17, 2025.

Meanwhile, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have been designated by the AFC to host the Fourth Round.
