Gregoria Target Comeback At The Japan Open 2025

JAKARTA Gregoria Mariska Tunjung ensured that her condition slowly began to improve and hoped to return to next month's tournament, precisely at the Japan Open 2025.

The bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics conveyed the current condition regarding the vertigo problem he suffered at a press conference at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

"If you want to play, you want it right away. I can indeed play, but for a high level it needs to be restored this month. So, I really hope to be able to play at the 2025 Japan Open," said Gregoria.

The badminton player who was born in Wonogiri last appeared at the 2025 Badminton Asia Championship (BAC) in April 2025 in Ningbo, China.

He was then withdrawn from the 2025 Sudirman Cup because of the vertigo that had been experienced since the end of March 2025. Since then, Gregoria has been absent from several important tournaments, including the Indonesia Open 2025 which is currently taking place this week.

"Praise God, my condition per day is getting better. I was able to take part in training, but no matter how long I was off yesterday, it took me a while," said Gregoria.

At this time Gregoria routinely undergoes acupunturous treatment procedures. In addition, he also has to check at the hospital once a week.

"So far everything has gone well. Relapse is still light. Previously, if it relapsed, I could lie down for approximately five-six hours," said the athlete who is familiarly called Jorji.

The Japan Open is a Super 750 tournament which will take place on 15-20 July 2025. The tournament will win a total prize of 950 thousand US dollars.
