JAKARTA The Djarum Foundation together with Polytron and IForte inaugurated the international grand badminton sports center, namely Polytron Stadium, at Diponegoro University (Undip).

The inauguration of the stadium in Tembalang, Semarang, Central Java, was carried out on Monday, June 2, 2025. This place was built as a series of efforts to build a strong badminton ecosystem.

The President Director of the Djarum Foundation, Victor Rachmat Hartono, said that this stadium is a symbol of determination to revive the glory of Indonesian badminton from the academic environment.

"Polytron Stadium is not just a facility, but a future champion nursery field. From here, we hope students have a platform to distribute talents in badminton," he said.

Polytron Stadium was built on an area of approximately 11,000 square meters. The construction began on October 2, 2023 and was completed on August 27, 2024, by consuming a budget of more than IDR 43 billion.

This badminton center is equipped with five badminton fields, 300 people with a capacity tribune, disabled friendly toilets, athletes' lounges, office rooms, and merchandise rooms.

The advantages that make this stadium internationally standard are the size of each field of 13.4 x 6.10 meters with a 100 percent PVC wear layer layer, grid stabilizing layer, fiberglass layer, decompression layer, and foam layer from Flypower.

The stadium design is no less iconic with a giant shuttlecock on the front side being a symbol of speed, perseverance, and dedication, as if welcoming every athlete who comes to compete and train.

The Chancellor of Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, SE, MS, expressed his high appreciation for the construction of this facility. He hopes that this place can generate a competitive spirit and never give up on the younger generation, especially Undip students.

"We believe this stadium will not only be a training ground, but will be a center of activity, inspiration, and motivation for our students to be more active in exercising, pursuing achievements, and shaping character through sports," said Suharnomo.

In line with this, the CEO of Polytron, Hariyono, explained that this stadium was built with a philosophy that was more than just a sports facility.

He added that with the establishment of the Polytron Stadium, it is hoped that the spirit of badminton will burn again from the heart of the academic world, linking educational goals with determination to excel on the national and international sports stages.

"This is a new home for Indonesian badminton. We built it not only as a facility, but as a place for the birth of a strong sports culture for students, as well as the surrounding community," he said.

The inauguration ceremony of the Polytron Stadium was also enlivened by the presence of Indonesian badminton legends, such as Liliyana Natsir, Tontowi Ahmad, Ivana Lie, Sigit Budiarto, Hendrawan, and Aryono Miranat.
