The Indonesian U-16 Volleyball Team Qualifies For The Asian Championships

JAKARTA The Indonesian national team will certainly walk into the U-16 Men's Asian Volleyball championship after defeating Malaysia in Sunday's qualifying match, May 25, 2025.

In the match which took place at the Volleyball Padepokan General Kunarto, Sentul, Bogor, Indonesia defeated Malaysia in a tight 3-2 (24-26, 25-10, 22-25, 25-22, 15-8) battle.

"We are sure that we won from the start, we are still not satisfied with the score, 3-2. We should have won sooner," said Indonesian national team coach Indra Wahyudi.

In this clash, Indonesia had a bad start. They gave up 24-26 in the first set before equalizing 1-1 after winning 25-10 in the second set.

The momentum of Indonesia's revival continued until the beginning of the third set when they managed to lead points 12-5. However, the failure of attacks and service errors made the opposing team equalize the score 13-13.

After chasing each other's points, Malaysia turned things around when scoring consecutive points to make the score 20-18. Coach Moh Halim Bin A Samad's children took advantage of every chance to continue to lead until they won the third set with a score of 25-22.

Indonesia then equalized again by winning 25-22. Furthermore, in the determination set, Indonesia appeared confident by minimizing its own mistakes to win 15-8.

In that match, Raka Dwi Prasetyo scored 28 points, followed by Bayu with 22 points, and Amlan Syafril with 19 points. From the Malaysa camp, Chan Jason became the player who scored the most points with 21 points, followed by Lim We Sheng with 13 points.

The 2025 U-16 Asian Championships are scheduled to take place on July 12 19th. Indonesia will start the struggle in the championship with competition in the group stage against Kazakhstan, Iran, and Hong Kong.
