Lamine Yamal: Barcelona Are Not Afraid Of Real Madrid!

JAKARTA - Lamine Yamal said that Barcelona are not afraid of Real Madrid, just like any other team, after they won the El Clasico 4-3 match in La Liga on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

The victory was the fourth in a row this season and brought the Blaugrana closer to the La Liga title.

Yamal, 17 years old, scored Barcelona's second goal as they came back from conceding Kylian Mbappe's first two goals to win an incredible game at the Olympic Lluis Companys.

The three additional points made Barcelona now seven points ahead of Real Madrid with only three league games remaining.

Barcelona, who lost their third El Clasico last season, have now beaten Real Madrid four times since the start of the season, twice in La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup final, and the Copa del Rey final.

"It felt bad when Real Madrid beat you. It's true we didn't beat them last year, we suffered."

"This year we are doing everything we can to turn things around. We are not afraid of them, as might be owned by other teams against them."

"So, we give everything. We feel better than other teams. That's the mentality we have when competing."

"I think that's how you play against them. You have to appear as if you are a better team and enjoy yourself, that's all," Yamal told ESPN after the win.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick praised Yamal's mature performance in helping the team bounce back from two goals for the seventh time this season.

He said that Yamal was definitely not a child.

Apart from that, Yamal then kept his promise to exchange t-shirts with former Barcelona striker Thierry Henry, who joined the Blaugrana in 2007, the same year the teenager was born.

Henry has asked Yamal for his shirt in a recent interview. The Barcelona winger said he would give the shirt if Yamal accepted instead.
