Harry Kane Trophy Drought Ends When Bayern Munich Draws Bundesliga

JAKARTA - Bayern Munich won their 33rd Bundesliga title on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Thus ending Harry Kane's long wait for the first major trophy in his senior football career.

Kane could have won his first winner on Saturday, May 3, 2025, if Bayern Munich won over RB Leipzig during the striker's absence.

He watched from the stands at the time for serving a ban on playing due to his fifth yellow card this season the previous week.

However, the equalizer goal in the 94th minute from Leipzig's Yussuf Poulsen made the champagne never come.

Bayern Munich's victory was finally confirmed on Sunday, May 4, 2025, when Bayer Leverkusen, who were in second place, drew 2-2 against Freiburg, meaning they could no longer mathematically outperform Die Bayern's total of 76 points with two games remaining.

Leverkusen's draw ended Kane's record of playing 694 games for his club and country without a single trophy that could be dedicated to his business.

Then, he added another upload showing himself celebrating victory and singing We Are the Champions before being doused with champagne.

He then shared a video of himself singing the 1977 hits Queen, We Are the Champions.

Bayern Munich escaped from Leverkusin's dominance last season when Xabi Alonso's squad lifted the Meisterschale (the Bundesliga trophy) and FC Holllywood failed to win a trophy for the first time in a decade.

However, Vincent Kompany's team has been at the forefront in most of the season.

Kane's failure to win trophies during his brilliant career has delighted the opponent's supporters and sparked talks about the curse of the trophy.

He repeatedly almost ended his trophy drought. Kane has lost in the Champions League final and two Carabao Cup finals with Tottenham Hotspur, two Euro finals with England, and one German Super Cup final on his Bayern Munich debut last season.

The England captain joined Bayern Munich from his boyhood club Spurs in 2023 and is on track to become the first player to end his first Bundesliga two seasons as the competition's top scorer.

Broadly speaking, he is considered one of the greatest strikers of his generation, Kane has won many individual awards as England's all-time top scorer.

He is also ranked second on the list of the top goalscorers throughout the Premier League's career.

His move to Bayern Munich, six European champions, was his move to add trophies to the goalscorer's record.
