JAKARTA Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) surprisingly canceled a heavyweight fight between Curtis Blaydes and Rizvan Kuniev, just hours before the UFC 313 event took place at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Sunday (WIB).
According to a report from MMA Fighting, Blaydes was forced to withdraw due to illness. This decision made Kuniev fail to make his UFC debut after obtaining a contract through the Contract Series owned by UFC CEO Dana White.
Blaydes previously lost to Tom Aspinall in the fight for the UFC 2024 heavyweight interim title last July. He has ambitions to rise up in the fight against Kuniev, but his unsuitable condition forced him to postpone the plan.
This cancellation is the second in the UFC 313 event, after previously John Castaneda also withdrew from the match against Chris Gutierrez for health reasons.
