Aldila Sutjiadi Wins In First Round Of Indian Wells 2025

JAKARTA - Indonesia's mainstay tennis player, Aldila Sutjiadi, managed to secure victory in the first round of the 2025 Indian Wells event.

Aldila, who played in the women's doubles sector with Hungarian tennis player Fanny Stollar, won 4-6, 6-1, and 11-9 over the United States pair Ashlyn Krueger/Jessica Pegula, on Friday, March 7, 2025.

"This victory means a lot to me, especially after I had to postpone the 2025 tour because of my health condition at the end of 2024," Aldila said in a statement received in Jakarta.

The match was dramatic with temperatures below 15 degrees with strong winds blowing.

Aldila/Fanny who played in double clothes had to fight hard through the super tie-break after they lost their first set.

In the second set they showed the mentality of the champion with a landslide victory, forcing the opponent to undergo a supertie-breaking set. At that stage, the two pairs chased each other after points.

The momentum of victory was delayed when the opponent managed to win two points in a row. However, Aldila/Fanny did not give up. They got up and locked the ticket to the second half of the tournament.

"This victory assures me that I am ready to pursue even better achievements by 2025," said Aldila.

Aldila had hearing loss at the end of 2024. This problem forced him to postpone participating in the 2025 championship and pass the Grand Slam at the start of the Australian Open 2025 season.

This is not the first time Aldila has duet with Fanny Stollar. Previously, they had been paired when they had not competed on the WTA tour.

Aldila came to this tournament after becoming runner-up at the ITF W36 Arcade last week. In the tournament, she played with compatriot, Janice Tjen.
