PSG Vs Liverpool: Luis Campos Angry With Referees Over Konate Incident

PSG had to accept a narrow defeat to Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 (Instagram/@psg).

JAKARTA - Italian referee Davide Massa was sacked by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) football adviser Luis Campos for not giving a penalty or a red card when PSG lost 0-1 to Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League last 16, Thursday, March 6, 2025.

The crowd went to check to decide whether Ibrahima Konate had pushed PSG striker Bradley Barcola in the back in the 25th minute or not. However, no offenses were given and Konate continued to play.

The broadcaster of the Canal Plus match showed an angry picture of Campos shouting at the crowd as he walked through the tunnel in the first half and scolded him hard.

"It's a red card or penalty in every part of the world," he shouted loudly in English, repeating his words three times.

Two years ago, Campos took to the side of the pitch to complain about the referee during Ligue 1's match against Lille.

Apart from that, PSG players and coaches did not agree with Campos' opinion. Vitinha, for example, did not blame the referee.

"It's hard to say, I'm far away so I can't see it. We're not going to hide behind it," he said.

Meanwhile, Luis Enrique's manager chose not to comment on the referee.

"I don't like talking about referees," said the Spaniard.

Meanwhile, Liverpool Manager, Arne Slot, revealed after the match that the Masses had led the match well.

"It's not easy if you're a referee in a game like this when the fans are so supportive of the home team."
